Purpose of Role
To provide internal and external customers with best-in-class Quality support, from RFQ to final product approval. Driving best practice, upfront quality processes and associated documentation in compliance with IATF16949/ ISO9001 to ensure robust product launch into manufacturing sites
Role Summary
- Review of customer RFQ packs, specifications and requirements to ensure that they are fully understood and appropriately costed in terms of DV, PV and in-process testing
- Review and critique of GD&T and Dimensional Variation Analysis (DVA) studies
- Creation and maintenance of PFMEAs, co-ordinating multi-disciplinary teams
- Creation and updates to Process Flow documentation and Control Plans
- Creation of Quality Standards Manuals and evidence to support deviation approval
- Leading by example, ensuring adherence to the Quality Management System
- Specification, validation and sign off of inspection gauges and related checking media
- Promoting the use of customer preferred techniques including Poka-Yoke (error proofing) and Measurement System Analysis
- Participation in cross-functional teams during the development of new products or engineering changes
- Collation of measurement/ attribute data, in depth analysis and writing of reports to present findings and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders
- Provide guidance on Quality best practice and train other members of the team
- Liaise and communicate with different departments, customers, suppliers and service providers as required to complete the pre-defined NPI Process task list
- Generation and interpretation of statistical analyses and capability studies to validate, identify and resolve product quality issues
- Undertaking of special projects as required by the NPI Quality Manager or Group Engineering Director
- Travel to other sites may be required
Skills/Knowledge Required
- Demonstrated knowledge of quality systems, measurement methods and statistical analysis tools
- Strong knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and creation of Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA)
- Experience in interpretation of engineering standards, component test standards and techniques
- Knowledge of TS16949 and ISO9001
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, in a diverse and dynamic environment
- Ability to present data effectively, using it to drive decisions, to agreed deadlines
- Experience of structured problem solving tools
- Previous experience working on NPI projects for major OEMs or Tier 1 suppliers
- Knowledge of AIAG VDA 7 Step FMEA process would be highly advantageous
- Previous experience working within a high-volume manufacturing environment, with plastic injection moulding, painting and associated assembly processes a distinct advantage
- Experience with IMDS Submission, AAR, Guage Specification, CMM would be highly advantageous
