Quantity Surveyor - Warrington, Cheshire

Join one of the UKs largest multidisciplinary design and build contractors with over 100 years of industry experience. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a specialist and rapidly growing section of the business, primarily based at the head office in Warrington, with site visits as required.
Purpose: Assist in the commercial control of multiple projects to deliver the expected contract margin while providing excellent, efficient service to clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with interim valuations, variations, final accounts, and internal weekly progress reports detailing hours spent/earned, gang rates, etc., reporting to the Senior Quantity Surveyor.
- Prepare subcontract payment certificates, cost value reconciliations, star rates, and associated star rate registers.
- Ensure full submission and strict adherence to all contractual notices to effectively administer the contract.
- Perform take-offs to determine changes in drawings from tender to AFC and subsequent changes in construction issues.
- Monitor subcontract costs against allowances and labour allocation sheets to ensure project costs align with contract margins.
- Use and update the internal project database to track progress on labour, materials, plant, staff, and preliminary costs.
- Undertake weekly measures in liaison with project planners to achieve payment milestones as dictated by individual contracts.
- Implement risk management techniques.
- Assist with subcontract orders, project tenders, and pre-contract information in conjunction with Work Package Managers.
- Monitor material purchases to ensure they are within tender allowances where possible.
- Manage the effective commercial delivery of projects in line with contract margins.
- Keep the Commercial Director, Head of Commercial, and Work Package Managers informed of specific cost overruns or risks to effective delivery.
- Perform any other duties necessary for the proper execution of the role of Quantity Surveyor.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years experience and/or suitable professional examination.
Job-Related Experience:
Essential:
- Experience working with a multi-discipline contracting organization.
Desirable:
- Experience working under the NEC contract format.
- Experience working within a framework contract.
- Familiarity with a contract administration tool such as CEMAR.
Skills & Knowledge:
- Advanced Microsoft Excel training or experience.
- Full driving licence.
- Ability to communicate effectively at senior levels within the organization and with client representatives.
- Ability to influence and negotiate effectively.
