Senior Estimating Engineer
Location: Warrington/St Helens
Purpose: Carry out and oversee the efficient and effective provision of estimates for projects to secure profitable contracts.

Organisation:
- Report to the Estimating Director
Principal Accountabilities:
- Conduct initial technical and contractual reviews of tender enquiries.
- Prepare precise estimates following QA procedures using the computerized estimating package and Microsoft Word/Excel.
- Obtain competitive quotations from suppliers/subcontractors for project estimates.
- Perform detailed take-offs to provide comprehensive information for tender reviews and financial control of contracts.
- Collaborate with internal divisions/departments to gather relevant quotations and information for tenders.
- Attend site visits and tender review meetings with clients (both UK and overseas).
- Attend kick-off meetings to brief the project team if the tender is successful.
- Oversee and advise Estimating Engineers to ensure completeness and timely submission of tenders.

- Provide specialist estimating services for the entire organization, requiring a good understanding of the groups activities and capabilities.
- Assess the quality of user requirements, scope, specifications, and designs to qualify the basis of estimation.
- Possess a comprehensive knowledge of contractual arrangements and estimating practices.
- Interface with all divisions, sales and marketing, sites, and clients, requiring excellent interpersonal skills.
- Manage unpredictable workloads with imposed deadlines, necessitating excellent organizational skills, flexibility, and the ability to work under pressure.
- Participate in annual performance reviews and actively engage in all internal and external training courses.
Profile:
Qualifications:
- Appropriate discipline qualifications (HNC, ONC, or City and Guilds).
- Considerable experience in estimating work packages to industry standards, particularly in chemical, pharmaceutical, nuclear, utilities, and food & drink sectors.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Strong knowledge of current estimating and commercial practices.
- Good understanding of engineering practices.
- Familiarity with project management practices.
- Knowledge of HSE systems and compliance.
- Understanding of QA systems and compliance.
- Effective communication skills at all levels within the organization and with clients.
- High level of computer literacy.
- People management skills and knowledge of performance management processes for leadership, coaching, and staff development.
