We are looking for an experienced Estimating Engineer to join our team in South Somerset. This is an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer, Production Planner, or Sales/Estimating professional with expertise in CNC machining and a strong background in working with various metals.

About the Role
This position is ideal for a Sales Estimator, Engineering Sub-Contract Buyer/Expeditor, or an experienced CNC Machinist looking for a customer-focused, office-based role that utilizes technical expertise and IT proficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Quoting & Estimating - Prepare accurate customer quotations based on technical drawings, specifications, and machining requirements.
- Customer Engagement - Communicate effectively with customers, addressing technical queries and ensuring a high level of service.
- Process Planning - Identify the best machining methods, estimate production times, and incorporate subcontractor elements when needed.
- Supplier & Stakeholder Collaboration - Build strong relationships with suppliers and work closely with Production, Engineering, and Quality teams.
- Technical Analysis - Review and respond to Customer RFQs, interpreting technical drawings to develop precise estimates.
- Operational Efficiency - Utilize CNC Turning & Milling experience (highly advantageous) to determine machining cycle times and improve processes.
- IT & Documentation - Maintain accurate records, use estimating software, and contribute to process improvements.

- Technical Proficiency - Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Detail-Oriented - Strong analytical skills with a keen eye for accuracy.
- Communication & Negotiation - Excellent interpersonal skills to liaise with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
- IT Skills - Proficiency in estimating software, ERP/MRP systems, and Microsoft Office.
- Self-Motivation & Teamwork - Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative environment.
- Time Management - Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Salary & Benefits
Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 (DOE)
Working Hours:
- Monday - Thursday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
- Friday: 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Holidays: 25 days + 8 Bank Holidays
